Hospitality is one of our three main pillars of ministry here at the CA. We consider being welcoming an important component of Jesus' gospel message, and we firmly believe that we do not need to agree with one another in order for us to be in community. We invite every person into our doors regardless of religious affiliation, orientation, socio-economic status, ethnicity, race, gender, or any other perceived label that can sometimes be used to divide.
Here are some of ways we have been answering into our call to hospitality this year:
- Open Houses
- New Student Retreat: PLAY (in honor of the Year of Games)
- Maintaining a Meditation Room, available for any student during our normal business hours (M-F, 10am - 6pm + evening programming)
- Having study spaces throughout the house, including our Great Room (perfect for when Van Pelt's busy!)
- Co-sponsoring Art of Living's YES+ Personal/Community Wellness Weekend for student leaders
- Hosting biweekly dinners that are free and open to all
We also offer SLANGuage, an ESL program for foreign scholars and their spouses, and we allow student organizations, local non-profits and ministries to use our facilities for group meetings.
