Dana How Scholars - Mentoring

One of the single most important elements in our lives involves the relationships we form with our friends and family. Meaningful relationships allow us to connect with individuals who have the potential to impact our lives in a profound and constructive way.

This year, the Christian Association is offering opportunities for Penn students motivated by faith to enter into meaningful relationships with neighboring high school students at Upward Bound, a federally-funded college preparatory program, through an initiative known as Dana How Scholars.

The program honors our late executive director, Dana How, and his commitment to community work. It is designed to provide a forum for Penn students to engage with local high school students and propel them towards true leadership and college-readiness. At the same time, the program allows the mentors themselves the chance to develop as emotionally-intelligent leaders, by giving them chances to think critically about their own identities and to translate their values into action.
