Peacemaking Through the Arts was founded by our Artist-in-Residence Marcy Francis in 2001 as Arts After School and continues as a program teaching conflict resolution techniques through performing and visual arts.
Volunteers work with children from 1st to 6th grade in small groups as well as one-on-one at the CA through Calvary St. Augustine Church's After School Program, one to two times a month.
Volunteers create safe, peaceful, and loving environments for children who are surrounded by violence. Volunteers must be responsible, dedicated, and willing to learn.
In addition to individual volunteers, we are also looking for performing arts groups to perform for and interact with the children. In the past, we've worked with Penn African Performing Arts, Penn Dhamaka and Stimulus Children's Theater.
There are no artistic or religious requirements to be a part of this program.
