Planned Giving & Bequests

The Christian Association continues to train leaders who will work for peace and social justice just as it did when you were a student.  Programs and methods are no doubt different but the goal is the same -- doing in the world according to the example set by Jesus.

As you know, we do not receive financial support from the University.  Rather, we are funded by individual gifts, foundation support and by the Christian Association Fund.  As we increase our activity and presence at the University, we need to increase the size of the Christian Association Fund.

Please consider a planned gift, a bequest to the Christian Association.  It can be a part of the Christian Association Fund, the Open Mind for Africa Fund (in honor of Dr. Louise Shoemaker), the McCracken Society, or a fund in your name.  If you have already planned a gift to the Christian Association, please let us know so we can list you in the McCracken Society.

Please contact Katherine Primus, Executive Director at 215-746-6350 or primuska (at) pobox.upenn (dot) edu to set up a planned gift to accomplish your goals.

Bequests Via Your Will

It is easy to give to the Christian Association via your will.  Consult with your lawyer who will suggest appropriate language and enter it in your will.  Here are examples from many possibilities:

"I bequeath to the Christian Association at the University of Pennsylvania the sum of $10,000."

"I bequeath to the Christian Association at the University of Pennsylvania 5% of my estate."

If you make a bequest by will, we will name you to the McCracken Society, or set up a fund in your name.

Planned Giving

In cooperation with The Philadelphia Foundation, the Christian Association at the University of Pennsylvania can arrange for a gift from you which will give you (and/or spouse and others) an income for life, a tax deduction, and benefit the Christian Association (and The Philadelphia Fund) in perpetuity.  At the end of the annuity or trust, the remainder of the gift is distributed annually in perpetuity as follows:  4% of principal to the Christian Association and 1% of principal to The Philadelphia Foundation.

Types of Funds:  Charitable Gift Annuity, Charitable Remainder Trust, and more. Contact Gary Bronson, Finance Manager to discuss a planned gift to the Christian Association by letter, phone (215-746-6350) or email bronson (at) pobox.upenn (dot) edu .  If you make a planned gift, we will name you to the McCracken Society, or set up a fund in your name.  Please inform Katherine Primus, Executive Director by letter, phone (215-746-6350) or email primuska (at) pobox.upenn (dot) edu .
