Jean-Robert Desulme (Bobby), a seminarian from Palmer Seminary, is doing his field placement this academic year focusing on sexual justice issues. Robert, who is of Haitian descent but who grew up in Canada, has had the benefit of having comprehensive sex education throughout his upbringing. He brings an interest in and concern about sexual violence due to his awareness of it in his own community.
While working with us, his primary responsibilities are to help us build a partnership with the nascent chaplaincy program of Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania for our future field placement students. He also serves as a liaison between our sexuality program, the volunteer chaplain Rev Marvin Marsh at Planned Parenthood, and the student groups, Penn Med for Choice and Penn for Choice. His goal is to focus personally on the theological implications of the debate in the US culture wars about women’s moral agency.
