As a Philly native, I am excited to be back into the City I consider home and be working at the University of Pennsylvania through the Christian Association. I am a proud guardian of a 6 year old chocolate Labrador named Boulder. I love reading, movies, playing volleyball (I hope to make use of the volleyball court across the street), biking, camping, and taking Boulder to lakes, beaches and parks. Boulder can often be found at the Christian Association, hanging out with his stuffed sheep or napping!
As an undergraduate at the University of Delaware, I studied Communication/Public Relations and minored in Religious Studies. I was involved in multiple campus ministries which was very life-giving; I also lived in a service community, rowed crew, wrote for the school newspaper and was involved in two environmental clubs. After graduation, I spent several years working in the environmental field and in my free time I volunteered in young adult ministry. I was called into campus ministry full-time in 2001. I received my ministry training, a Master of Arts in Ministry for a Multicultural Church, at the Franciscan School of Theology/Graduate Theological Union which is an ecumenical consortium that also includes Cal Berkeley. Universities I have served on staff include: SUNY Cortland, University of Colorado at Boulder, Salve Regina University, Fairfield University, USciences and Drexel University. Recently, I started the Master of Clinical/Community Counseling Program at Eastern University; I am taking classes part-time.
One of the areas of ministry I have specialized in is retreats. I have enjoyed creating and building community through retreats and hope you come on the CA's Fall Retreat PLAY! And I can't wait to have several small groups going to foster new friendships and provide time for faith exploration - to think about the big questions of life! I also am also excited about upcoming service opportunities and advocacy projects. Of course, I can't wait to see how PLOTTING GOODNESS, the CA's new ministry of sharing God's love in unexpected ways comes to life. Share your ideas!
I hope to see you around Campus, at our every other week Tuesday community dinners, and if you come to visit the CA, Boulder and I are often on the second or third floors. Many blessings on your journey this year at Penn. Peace.
